Drive & Hike Day tour Torres del Paine

Have only a short time, but still want to explore Torres del Paine? If you like discovering places actively, but don't have the time to do a multiday trek, then this private drive and hike day tour might be perfect for you! Together with our guide you'll visit the main lookouts and do exciting short hikes in Torres del Paine National Park.

Program

  • In the morning our guide will pick you up at your hotel in Puerto Natales and drive to Torres del Paine national park. We’ll drive through the steppes of Patagonia passing by the quaint frontier town of Cerro Castillo. Then we drive to Sarmiento Lake which with its deep blue color and stark white stromatolite-like formations reveals a rich geological history. At the park entrance we get the first glimpse of the monumental granite towers that give the park its name. Here we can enjoy our first hike into an area of the park that is home to a large population of guanaco’s; the park’s emblematic camelids. Then we drive on in the direction of Los Cuernos, with lakes and mountains always by our side. During the drive and the hikes, we can see a wide variety of birdlife, like the Rhea, Condor and many smaller species of birds.

Suddenly we arrive at the Nordenskjöld lake where, if the weather cooperates, we have an impressive view of the Paine Massif. Nordenskjöld Lake empties into Pehoe Lake at Salto Grande (“big waterfall”). It’s time for another short hike to get a better look!

On our drive to the Western part of the national park, we will stop for a picnic lunch on the shore of Pehoe Lake. Nearing the final part of our excursion we arrive at the beach of Grey Lake and hike along the shore of the Lake to a lookout from where we can see Grey glacier. There are usually icebergs in this area; proof of the activity of this important glacier. This is also the area where you can sometimes see “Huemul”, South Andean dears, which are in danger of extinction. After this day full of activity and impressions it’s time to go back to Puerto Natales for a well deserved rest.

Depending on the rhythm of the participants and also on the weather, our guide may decide to make the hikes shorter or longer. The guide will always make sure you have the best possible experience in this beautiful place and that you’ll take away some great memories!
